The phonics scheme used by the school is Read, Write inc. All children will read a range of phonics books from this scheme to support them in applying the sounds learned in their phonics sessions. In addition children will read selected books from Storyworld and Big Cat schemes to secure other reading skills, such as learning sight vocabulary. In whole class and guided reading sessions pupils learn vocabulary and comprehension skills through Text Talk and Talk Through Stories texts.
The Music scheme used by the school is Sing Up.
The Music Development Plan provides additional information about our current and future plans for the delivery of music.
Curriculum Intent
Our curriculum is driven by the four overarching principles in the document above. Our curriculum intent and implementation meets the needs of all pupils, it is inclusive and aspirational for all. As a school we comply with both the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014. For further information please see the related school policies:
Subject Progression Documents
Each area of the curriculum is carefully planned and sequenced to ensure progression within and across each year group. Please click on the subjects below to see our progression maps. These do not detail everything pupils will learn in these subjects. Instead they focus on the core, most critical knowledge and skills that should be secured for each area of learning.
Curriculum information for parents
We send termly curriculum information to parents and carers to share details of what pupils will be learning each term. Please see the Curriculum Newsletters and Home Learning page for further information for each year group.
Successful Learning
Successful learning attributes underpin our curriculum. They are fundamental skills that focus on how to learn and how to approach new or challenging scenarios. These attributes are introduced to the children in the Early Years and revisited and developed throughout Key Stage 1. These attributes are taught through explicit modelling, sharing examples and linking our experiences to them.
